WHY YOU NEED A PUFFER COAT
BRRRRR! Baby, it’s cold outside! Let’s see, yesterday’s high was 24 degrees (and we woke to snow!), and today’s is supposed to reach a balmy 28! It will be a frigid week and just the right time to talk about puffer coats! Heather and I shot these darling short puffer coats last week (yes, more unprofessional photos) on a cold day, and we were so glad to have them on. Why should you invest in a puffer coat…let me tell you!
Puffer coats give exceptional warmth from the insulation in either down feathers or synthetic fibers. They trap air and create a barrier against the cold to keep you warm. Down feathers keep you a little warmer than synthetic fibers, but it’s all about how much warmth you need. A lot of puffer coats come offered in varying levels of warmth. I was shopping at Aritzia last week, and the puffers are marked on the tags as to how much warmth they give. It’s like buying a comforter for your body!
Puffer coats are great for travel because they are surprisingly lightweight and can be squished and rolled into a suitcase. Also, most are wind, water, and snow resistant, making them the perfect coat. I love puffers for all of the reasons, but primarily for their style. Puffer coats have come a long way, and it’s fashionable to wear them with anything! Heather and I love this puffer for the color and length (it’s on sale for under $90!). It hits right at the waist (it says it’s cropped, but it’s a little longer), and the color goes with everything! I wanted to wear an all-cream look with the coat. I paired a sweatshirt (looks like Anine Bing, but a lot less expensive) and a pair of Madewell’s Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Jeans: Snap Edition. These jeans are high-waisted with the brand’s Magic Pockets
that hold you in front and snap at the hem, so you can choose how wide you want the bottom to be. Pretty genius! I bought my boots several years ago from Veronica Beard in almost every color they came in. This color is no longer available (sorry!), but I linked it to a similar one below.

My friend from Nashville is here, and it’s so fun catching up! We’ve been in our pajamas having coffee talk two days in a row! I get one more with her, and my LA best friend arrives tomorrow!
