ONE DRESS TWO WAYS + 20 PRESIDENT’S DAY SALES TO SHOP
Happy Weekend! The weather in Texas can be pretty unpredictable, as we experienced a high of 71 yesterday and 49 today, and it’s expected to reach 82 next week! Gotta love living here! As we’re still in February, I haven’t brought out my Spring clothes just yet, but I’m getting eager to do so. Are you also ready for Spring? I’m curious: what colors do you prefer during this time of the year? Personally, I find that black is a great choice for transitioning seasons. Speaking of which, I recently purchased this black turtleneck dress by Norma Kamali and wanted to showcase it styled in two different ways.
Norma Kamali is a well-known designer, and if you haven’t tried any of her pieces, you’re missing out! Despite being 78 years old, she remains as relevant today as she was back in the 60s, and so does her brand. Kamali is not only a visionary trend forecaster but also closely observes her shoppers’ behavior. It’s wild to think she launched the Diana Gown in 1973. While it has undergone some updates, now featuring a Skims-type bodysuit sewn underneath, Kamali knew this dress would withstand the test of time. It’s truly the perfect choice for a wedding guest dress! By the way, I’ve also been purchasing my bathing suits from Norma Kamali. They’re incredibly flattering and exude chicness. This black one is the latest addition to my collection.
Regarding styling, I wanted to showcase the versatility of this turtleneck dress. First, I belted it at the waist to create some shape and accentuate my figure. Alternatively, it can be worn without a belt for a more relaxed look and paired with sneakers or sandals. Made from a mid-weight slinky jersey, this dress has a beautiful hang and is remarkably comfortable. It’s so comfy, in fact, that you could even sleep in it! The belt I used is no longer available in this metal but available in gold and silver hardware.
For the second look featuring this dress, I paired it with a timeless jacket/cardigan, or as it has been named, the “jardigan.” This particular “jardigan” was designed by my friend Anh from 9 to 5 Chic in collaboration with M.M. LaFleur. It instantly transforms the dress into a slightly more casual ensemble. I’m absolutely obsessed with it!
Not only does it come in a lovely pink color, but it’s also incredibly versatile. You can wear it over dresses or tops; it looks equally stylish whether you belt it or leave it open. It became so popular that it sold out in the color I’m currently wearing, but fortunately, it has been re-stocked! This combination creates a fantastic work or office look that looks super chic!

What are you up to for this long weekend? We are laying low except for a birthday dinner tomorrow night for our grandson’s 11th birthday. How is he already 11? I saw him briefly this week, and I swear he’d grown a few inches since the last time I saw him. It reminds me how time goes by so quickly!
