We wanna talk about your boobs. Here at Miss S, we’ve partnered up with Breast Cancer Now, the leading UK charity for breast cancer research and care, to give you all the info you need on spotting the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, meaning there’s really no time like the present to get familiar with your boobs and check them out. Whilst rare, not only older women develop breast cancer, younger women (and men) can be diagnosed with breast cancer too, with 1 in 7 women being diagnosed in the UK during their lifetime. So, let’s give a little TLC (Touch, Look, Check) to our boobs!
It’s important for all adult women to get into the habit of knowing the signs, checking your boobs regularly and to contact your GP if you notice any new or unusual changes. It’s simple really, whether you’re in the shower or putting on body lotion, massage your boobs and feel around the armpits going up to your collarbone and remember there’s no special way.
Some of the most common signs and symptoms of breast cancer include:
- a lump or swelling in the breast, upper chest or armpit – you might feel the lump but not see it
- a change to the skin, such as puckering or dimpling
- a change in the colour of the breast – the breast may look red or inflamed
- a change to the nipple, for example it has become pulled in (inverted)
- rash or crusting around the nipple
- any unusual liquid (discharge) from either nipple
- changes in size or shape of the breast
These signs and symptoms don’t necessarily mean that you have breast cancer, most breast changes are not because of cancer, but it’s always best to get anything unusual checked out.

On 23rd October, Breast Cancer Now’s Wear It Pink Day is back and we’re encouraging all our Miss S babes to go head-to-toe in pink, ‘Mean Girls’ style. We’ve also teamed up with Breast Cancer Now to make some cute face coverings to wear whenever, with £2 from each purchase donated to the charity and this great cause.
